Youtube has introduced in its application for smart TVs support to view content in 8K resolution, although limited for devices with Android 10 or higher. The news has been revealed from the official page on Google Play of its application for Android TV.
Until now, the most popular platform in terms of videos had 4K resolution as the highest quality, but now it will also be possible to view 8K content on televisions compatible with this.
This novelty is available as of the YouTube update 2.12.08 for Android TV, although at the moment the 8K resolution is only compatible with televisions with Android 10 or higher operating system and the application for televisions has also incorporated other novelties in its latest update among which is the support for Cast Connect, which allows you to cast content from other devices.
The new features of the video platform for Android TV are completed with an improved resolution selection, other YouTube improvements and fixes a problem in the date and time, since it was placing them incorrectly.
