Music is the backbone for TikTok, So today that an agreement on the rights of the recordings of thousands of artists like Beyoncé and Travis Scott was reported, with Sony Music Entertainment, the users are the ones who came out winning.
The agreement ensures that TikTok users will continue to use songs from Sony’s record labels, which include Columbia Records and RCA, with a significant increase over the previous agreement for the rights that the Chinese app is raising.
Sony and TikTok have been negotiating a contract renewal for months, a period marked by the threat from US President Donald Trump to ban the app in the United States, where it has more than 100 million users. “We believe we must share the value of the app with the music industry,” said Ole Obermann, global music director for TikTok.
